With travel restrictions currently in place for many countries, customers may need to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result either before check-in, or on arrival. This could be 48, 72 or 96 hours prior to travelling depending on your destination.

Once the laboratory has completed your test you will receive a notification that your Safe to Travel test certificate is ready to download and you can get ready to travel! To ensure that you receive your test result in time for your travel:
Kits are shipped out within 2 days using Royal Mail 24 hour tracked service (when ordered before 10 AM Monday-Friday)*. However due to high volumes this cannot be guaranteed. Collection kits are stable and can be ordered well in advance of needing to take your sample
Allow 24 hours from posting back your sample via Royal Mail 24 tracked for delivery at the laboratory
Allow 24-48 hours for the laboratory to process your test and provide you with your result
*Please note that samples should reach the lab within 24 hours by Royal Mail Tracked 24 but this is not guaranteed
Test results are typically delivered within 48 hours or less from our partner laboratory’s receipt of your sample – though it can sometimes take longer.
Please confirm with your travel provider the time, prior to travel, that you need your results by. Please do this before you purchase a kit online.
Whilst every effort will be made to process your sample as rapidly as possible, we are unable to guarantee a specific time for delivery of your results
Guide to when to order and take your sample
Make sure to purchase your PCR collection kit well in advance of needing to take your sample.
If you need to order your kit close to the day of sample collection the order must be placed before 10 AM for next day delivery (although due to Royal Mail volume this is not guaranteed)
*Samples that are received on a Saturday may not be processed until Monday, therefore it is not recommended to send your sample back on a Friday
How it works
Request Your COVID-19 Test Kit
- Place your order using our secure application, ensuring that you order well in advance so that you receive your test result back before you need to travel.
- Your kit will be shipped out within 2 days by Royal Mail for next day delivery if you place your order before 10 AM Mon-Fri. If you place your order on a Saturday or Sunday it will be shipped out on Monday for next day delivery.
Receive, Collect, and Send Out your Test
- You will receive your sample collection kit through your door with easy-to-follow instructions on how to collect your sample.
- Using the provided, pre-paid label, post your collected sample back into a Royal Mail priority post box before midday on the day you take your sample.
- To find your closest Royal Mail priority box please visit https://www.royalmail.com/services-near-you#/ or use the Royal Mail app https://www.royalmail.com/downloadapp.
- Please do not use any other Royal Mail post box, or your sample may be delayed getting to the laboratory.
- Your sample will be processed by our accredited partner laboratory normally within 24-48 hours of receipt and you will be able to access the result, take the appropriate next steps, have access to advice and download your test certificate. Note that turnaround times are not guaranteed.
Symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after being exposed to the virus. The most common symptoms include:
- New or worsening cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Other less common symptoms may include:
- Body or muscle aches
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
The symptoms of confirmed COVID-19 can range from mild to severe. Some people who are infected don’t have symptoms and don’t feel sick. Most people have mild symptoms.
The most common symptoms of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of a new continuous cough and/or high temperature. If you have these symptoms, however mild, stay at home and do not leave your house for 7 days from when your symptoms started (if you live alone), or 14 days (if you live with someone who has symptoms). You do not need to call NHS 111 to go into self-isolation. If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after 7 days, contact NHS 111 online. If you have no internet access, you should call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999.

There is currently no validated treatment for COVID-19. Not all patients with COVID-19 will require medical attention, and most people recover within 2 weeks without any specific treatment. For severe cases, hospitalisation and respiratory support may be required. Treatment for mild cases generally focuses on managing symptoms.
These tests do not take away from the NHS stockpile nor government effort and are intended to supplement the national need for testing.
COVID-19 antigen testing by PCR detects RNA of the virus in the nose and throat. A positive result may indicate whether a person has the virus and is infectious. The sample collection material needed for testing is a throat/nasal swab. These samples are then run at our partner laboratory using CE-marked tests for highly accurate results.
Note that: Negative results do not preclude SARS-CoV-2 infection.
